On the trail of BABAKOTO!!!

Leave your stress behind and get on the trail of the babakoto lemur. Babakoto is the local name of the Indri indri, the largest living lemur. It is a day active lemur and the best places to find it are in the rainforests of Andasibe and Anjozorobe. ‘Koto’ is a common boy first name and ‘baba’ man's father. So babakoto is usually translated as ‘the father of Koto’. The father-son dynamic at the roots of several myths of babakoto explains the Malagasy name of this lemur.
